Use a reflective dog collar for safety!
The reflective dog collar, or reflecting dog collar, as the name suggests, reflects light back from source such as a vehicle's headlights. Reflector collars can therefore protect dogs from the hazards of night drivers by giving advance warning of their presence in the important, and possibly critical, 100-600 ft. vehicle braking range. As well as in darkness, the reflecting collar can also be of use in low light, rain, or fog.
When comparing the , reflective dog collar with the flashing dog collar one main advantage is that the former does not require batteries. Additionally, the flashing collar is generally only visible if the flashes are directly in the line of sight of a driver, whereas the reflected light is more widely spread as it is reflected back in different directions from the collars surface.
With regard to construction of a reflecting dog collar, any reflective material used should not rub off, fade, or crack, and also provide a good level of visibility all round the collar. If the reflecting dog collar is to be used on a long haired dog, you need to ensure that large parts of the collar are not covered, and thereby reducing its effectiveness. Finally, the collar as well as being durable and effective, should provide a comfortable fit.
